We are sure that you have ever felt the pleasure of contemplating, on those clear summer nights, the magical rivers of stars and the harmonious threads of light that swirl above our heads and thus experience the intriguing and at the same time vertiginous sensation of being part of this cosmic orchestra. If so, welcome to our

SKY CLASSROOM

The Sky Classroom is an educational project of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Valencia on the teaching and didactics of Astronomy, designed for educational centers in the Valencian Community. Born as a result of an agreement between the University of Valencia and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Aula del Cel is the meeting place with Astronomy, a space dedicated to its teaching and dissemination, in which to stimulate the curiosity and interest of people who visit us in Astronomy. This educational project is aimed at all educational levels and also for people with other abilities from the second cycle of Primary. This activity is also offered from the website of the Teacher Training Service.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of the Sky Classroom is to enjoy the sky.

We want to contribute to each visitor getting to know it a little better and in order to achieve this we propose:

  • Captivate the imagination of the people who visit us with the wonders of the Universe.
  • To transmit concepts of astronomy and space sciences as a reference tool and help for teaching in various cycles of education.
  • To make it possible for visitors to reason as scientists do.

The Classroom of the Sky is a space fully dedicated to the teaching and dissemination of astronomy from which to stimulate curiosity and interest in the cosmos and the desire to understand the universe.

The classroom is located in the Paterna facilities of the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Valencia. It is equipped with astronomical dissemination material and has an audiovisual room and a digital planetarium. Teaching sessions are held here and workshops and learning activities are held especially for students in high school, secondary school and the last cycle of primary school, but we welcome visits of any educational level (from 4th year of primary school) and cognitive level because we design special visits for people with other abilities.

There is also a teaching office that is responsible for developing the program of the sessions in coordination with the teaching staff of the visiting group of students.
