ISS transit over the Moon
On August 14, the International Space Station (ISS) crossed the lunar disk in a pass visible from our observatory.
Planning these sessions is very easy thanks to the Transit Finder website. Just enter your location, and it shows you the visible passes across the moon or sun within the kilometer radius you configure.
Our astrophotographers Vicent Peris and Alicia Lozano prepared their equipment to capture the moment, using two devices simultaneously.
On the one hand, the small Seestar S50.
And on the other, a Canon EosR reflex camera with a Sigma 150-600 mm telephoto lens at 500 mm.
It seemed difficult to catch the pass, considering it took only 0.67 seconds to cross the lunar disk, especially in daylight. But… challenge achieved!
Here’s a video with the video sequence of the two equipments.
